INTRODUCTION

Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.

The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.

The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

Ski Trip Number 1 Information
7 Jul 2025

Dear Parents,

I hope you have had a lovely first week holiday.

I am currently at school organising our first ski trip for Next Tuesday 15th July. We have 53 students  on this trip which is great. Miss Fox, Mrs Hamilton and myself will be up the ski field to help. We will  be arriving between 9 and 10 am. Probably about 9;30 depending on the road conditions.

When you arrive please go to the schools ticket office and say your child's name and the class number they are in, you will receive a ticket and instructions on what time their lesson is. Please then go to the rentals department and get your child  kitted out.

They are free to go on the snow for some runs before their lesson.

At the end of the day you can leave anytime your children have had enough. You do not need to sign out with the teachers as we assume you are with your children.

Hopefully the weather is going to be great, I will check in with the ski field the day before and keep you updated.

Enjoy this week, I hope the sun will shine !!

Regards

Kate Mansfield
