Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.
The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.
The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.
We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

Hi Everyone,
TROPHY RETURNS
It's that time of year again!! Could we please ask that all of last year trophy recipients return their trophies to the school office as soon as possible. Thank you!!!
BOOK FAIR
Our book fair is still on!! This is running until 29th November in our school Library. Feel free to pop in on your own or with your children to browse the fantastic selection of books, stationary and goodies. A perfect opportunity to grab some christmas presents - we're sure the children will have plenty on their wish list!! If there is no one around to help, please come and find one of us to help.

Dear Parents,
After consultation with the many weather apps, we have decided to postpone the Pet Day scheduled for tomorrow.
The new date will be Thursday 29th October from 1-3pm
We hope that the weather is more settled for this day.

Please note PET DAY is not looking too hopeful tomorrow. I will make a decision at 8am in the monring.

Pet Day Organisation
Dear Parents,
It is supposed to stop raining by tomorrow, However I will be making a final decision regarding whether Pet Day is on by 11am at the latest. I will message out.
If you have a pet in a trailer eg Cow or Calf please use the back gate via the swimming pool, drive behind the new classrooms and park along the hedge and stay off the main grass area.
We are not wanting you to drive over the main grass area as we have Athletics Day coming up and you can imagine how wet it is at the moment.
Please drop lambs, chickens etc at the gate and carry in.
Remember to bring a costume for your pet to wear during the Grand Parade.
Attached is a general outline of the day.
