INTRODUCTION

Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.

The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.

The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

A friendly reminder that all borrowed ski gear needs to be returned to the school office by the end of term.

Dress Rehearsal Tomorrow

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we have our dress rehearsal for our school production. Please make sure that your child/ren have all their costumes they need for tomorrow.

NO SUBWAY TOMORROW- packed lunches only, no food to be heated

Wednesday Night Performance- All children MUST be at the WaimateTheatre by 6pm sharp. Please drop your children at the side door. This is where you will collect them after the production.

We will not be letting any child go until we see a parent after the performance. Your children know where to go.

A Few Important Reminders

Just a quick reminder of a few things coming up:

Wig Wednesday – TOMORROW!
It’s Mufti Day, and children can come along in their favourite wig! Please bring a gold coin donation to support Child Cancer.

Production – NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Our production of Shrek the Musical is on Wednesday at 6.30pm at the Waimate Regent Theatre.
Please have children at the theatre by 6.00pm.
Please note: The school calendar says 7.00pm, but the correct start time is 6.30pm.

Tickets are still available!
If you haven’t got your tickets yet, please come along and get them from the school office — we’d love to see lots of you there supporting the children!
