INTRODUCTION

Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.

The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.

The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

Ikawai Bus run- Running tomorrow
25 Aug 2026

Dear Magic Bus Families ( Ikawai Run),

The Bus Trust has another bus organised for tomorrow and the next few days until the Magic Bus is fixed.

It is a new bus to the trust, e.g. just purchased last weekend and will replace the Flames Bus in time. However at present it does not have seat belts in each seat as these will be put in when not in use.

Having seat belts in buses is not  NZ LAW but a Bus Trust recommendation. If your child travels on any other bus they would not have a seat belt.

If you would prefer your child NOT to travel on the bus then you are welcome to bring your child to school until the Magic Bus is fixed.

Otherwise the White and Blue Flamed bus will collect your child tomorrow and until needed from the usual time and use place.

A big thank you to the Bus Trust for a quick replacement bus for your convenience.

Many thanks

Kate Mansfield

Principal
