Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.
The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.
The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.
We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

Dear Parents,
Year 8 camp to Ohau is coming up fast.
Monday 17th November leaving at 9am- back Tuesday 18th November by 3pm- (Bus Run).
Could all the children please beg or borrow a push bike from someone in the class who does not have one.
I would like ALL bikes to be at school tomorrow Monday 10th, or Tuesday 11th so we can go for some practice rides this week, check all bikes work and tires are pumped up.
If you cannot find a bike please make sure your child tells Mr Ross or Myself. But I do know many many children in their class who have bikes and if you ask them they would let your child borrow them.
Many thanks for your help and support
Kate
