INTRODUCTION

Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.

The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.

The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

Pool Trust Fire Wood Fundraiser
3 Jun 2026

Dear Parents,

The Glenavy Community Pool, which the school uses extensively, needs resurfacing.

The Glenavy Community Pool Trust has been offered a free load of firewood logs.

Our intention is to cut and split these this year, ready to sell dry for 2027.

We have two planned working bees on Sunday the 14th and 21st of June from 9am till 1pm.

We need a number of helpers with chainsaws, safety gear and wood splitters.

If you can help please complete the form below and return to school asap, but not later than Monday 8th July

Once we know numbers, further information will be sent via a group text message, so please include the number you wish to be contacted on.

If we do not get enough helpers the fundraiser will not go ahead.

Thanks

Mrs Mansfield and Mr Rivett
