INTRODUCTION

Glenavy School is a state co-educational primary school that has served the community for over a hundred and twenty years. It has developed a fine tradition in educational, cultural and recreational activities, and maintains a proud place in the community. The school’s success can be attributed to the tremendous co-operation, enthusiasm and efficient service of all connected with Glenavy both in the past and the present.

The onset of dairy farms has seen the roll almost double over the last few years and at the beginning of 2009, we were pleased and proud to have our 4th classroom opened by Jacqui Dean MP.

The rural aspect is an attractive and significant feature of the area and offers a unique perspective on life. With this comes a range of different educational opportunities and experiences which reflect the unique culture of Glenavy School. This is reinforced through the efforts of an experienced, dedicated and talented staff who through modern, appropriate teaching strategies provide interesting and varied learning experiences for our students.

We have an enthusiastic Board of Trustees, which works hard in the interests of all students of Glenavy School. We are all justifiably proud of our well maintained buildings, grounds and facilities.

SKI TRIP 2025

Dear Parents

I need to start making some arrangements for our forthcoming ski trips.  For any new parents, we take the whole school skiing to Round Hill, Lake Tekapo.  It is a very early start (about 6.15 a.m.) and we are usually return to school by 5.30 p.m- (this is for the bus trip)

On the first ski trip parents must take their own children to and from the ski field. You will need a 4 wheel drive and chains. We meet up on the ski field anytime from 9-10 or whenever you can make it.

On the second ski trip we provide a bus for students. We will need parent help on this day please as it is always very busy.

This year we have to split the school again to make the numbers more manageable on the slopes.

There will be a cost of only $40 per child, the PTA and BOT subsidise the significant extra cost. This will be invoiced on your child's school account

Please indicate below which day, either Friday 27th June or Friday 22nd September

You can appreciate this takes some organisation and I would please ask that you return your form as soon as possible, as I will only book a bus for the number of replies I have at the time.

Regards    Kate
